Underwood Trillium (Trillium underwoodii) is native to the gulf coast. The plant in the HBG Inga Paul area is surviving but gets badly chewed by insects later in the season. The flower (when it emerges) is maroon like Trillium cuneatum.
Recent advice is that this particular plant is a variation of Trillium cuneatum rather than the very similar Trillium underwoodii. |
