The Green Dragon is a plant infrequently seen in the wild but is distributed from New England to Florida and as far west as Texas. It is a relative of the Jack-In-The-Pulpit. The plant produces a long stem with an arc of long leaflets on top. The single flowering stem angles away from the central stem. The seed pod looks like a green corn cob. The pod eventually turns red as the plant matures. The Green Dragon needs continously moist soil. The plant and root contain calcium oxalate, and is therefore poisonous.
