DESCRIPTION
The tree has very large attractive green and orange blossoms in May. These blooms are not usually noticed because they are so high up in the trees. They can be seen on the ground after being blown off by the wind or naturally dropping.
This tree is known by several names, the most common one is "yellow poplar". The tree does not actually belong in the poplar family. It is in the magnolia family. It is also known as "tulip tree" and "tulip poplar"
This tree is very common in yards as well as in the wild. Look for the large tulip shaped leaves.
