DESCRIPTION

Mountain Laurel is an evergreen shrub that grows to about 10 feet tall. In favorable locations it can form thickets. It has dark green leaves and very attractive white flowers with pick dots. Other names for the plant are Lambkill and Sheepkill result from the fact that it is poisonous. Another name for the plant is Calico Bush because of the pattern inside the flower. . Mountain Laurel is not common as a wild plant in the local Huntsville area but is grown in people's gardens. It is abundant in Desoto State Park and on the Fiery Gizzard Trail in Tennessee.
