Grass-leaved Blazing Star is one of several species of the Liatrus genus. The plants on Monte Sano have narrow leaves, the lowest ones about 1/2 inch, becomming progressively more narrow. The bracts of the flower heads are blunt tips and slightly hairy. The stems are also slightly hairy. Liatris gramifolia is also found on the Devil's Racetrack trail. Flowering occurs in fall.
