The Foam Flower is a shade plant that shoots up a flower stem from a base rosette of 2 inch wide leaves shaped vaguely like a maple leaf. The flower stem grows to about 1 foot high and carries a feathery flower head. The head has bare stems tipped by tiny white flowers about 1/4 inch in diameter. The flowers have 5 petals and long stamens with yellow anthers, and the pistil in the center. There appears to be smaller petals or sepals between the larger elliptical shaped ones. You have to look closely to see them. Foam flowers spread by rhizomes and by seed. The root system is shallow. The plant is also called False Miterwort.
