Maple Hill Cemetary Stroll, 5/7/06 Pvt. Turner Mayes ..............................N Walker
Pvt. Turner Mayes 1893-1918 (Portrayed by Jim Kolacek) was a member of the famous Rainbow Division in World War 1. He participated in several major battles in France in 1918, the last one in the Meuse-Argonne region. He was killed by German Artillery while taking cover in a shell hole. His death occurred very shortly before the armistice was signed on November 11, 1918. His sister had his remains moved from France to Maple Hill shortly after the war.
